7 Free Must-Have Tools for Marketers

Whether you’ve got a big time marketing budget or you’re a startup with little (or no) dollars, harnessing the power of free tools can be a major advantage in your ability to move quickly, get meaningful data, make better decisions and find new ways to communicate with your audience.
As an homage to the friendly companies that are every marketer's “best friend” (and to commemorate the launch of our own free tool), we’ve pulled together a few of our favorite tools that are available gratis.

1. BuzzSumo

This one is a personal fave of mine, and since I started using it I’ve actually upgraded to the paid version. With BuzzSumo you can analyze what content performs best for any topic or competitor. You’ll get insights into the type of content people are consuming online, where content is getting shared the most, and which content formats (i.e. infographics, blog posts, etc.) are working well.

2. Quick Sprout Website Analyzer

You don’t know what you don’t know. That’s where the Quick Sprout Website Analyzer comes in handy. Simply enter your website URL and sit tight as the tool sifts through your site and provides an analysis of various elements including, SEO,  social media impact, keywords and more. Once you’ve established a benchmark, the tool also provides prioritized recommendations so you can begin to improve your score.

3. SumoMe

SumoMe offers a ton of free tools that entrepreneurs and marketers can benefit from. If you’re looking for heat map, content analytics, social sharing, they’ve got you covered. But the tool that seems to have gained the most traction (probably because it's uber effective) is the list builder. It’s “stupid easy” to install and can boost your email sign up rate by 20% (maybe more!)

4. MozBar

Worried about SEO? Then Moz has your back. The MozBar lets you see important SEO metrics at a glance, shows how difficult it is to rank for a keyword and gives you a quick look at social metrics for Twitter, Google+, and Facebook. Here’s a look at the MozBar in action.

5. Hello Bar

Ever notice that little bar that appears at the top of some websites? If you have, then you’ve likely seen Hello Bar in action. This seemingly insignificant (and easy to implement) bar can help you get more clicks and send traffic down a particular path when they visit your site. Here’s a look at the Hello Bar in action on Buffer’s blog.

6. Blog Topic Generator

Stumped for ideas? HubSpot’s Blog Topic Generator helps you think of ideas based on a few keywords that you provide. While this is a great way to get the idea ball rolling, you may get some interesting topic suggestions. As HubSpot mentions in the disclaimer, you may want to tweak them to be more relevant… and grammatically correct.

7. Uberflip eBook Generator

Do you create eBooks or whitepapers to build your mailing list or generate leads? The eBook Maker helps you transform your boring PDF into an engaging eBook in a matter of minutes. Once created, you can share your eBook providing your audience with a more compelling content experience that sets you apart from the rest.
